International Marconi Day 30 April 2011
The special event call sign GB2M will be operated by Na Fir Chlis Amateur Radio Club to celebrate the birthday of the radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi, born 25 April 1874 in Bologna, Italy.

In 1907 the Marconi company established a radio station in Lochboisdale,
Isle of South Uist. It was a GPO station run by the coastguard for
telegraphic work between the Outer Hebrides and the mainland.

The International Marconi Day event takes place every year on the saterday closes to the actual date of 25th April, when amateur radio stations are established and operated from original historic Marconi sites.
